Events and Training FAQ



  • Program and Training Cancellation & Refund Policy
    Girl Scouts, Hornets’ Nest Council reserves the right to cancel or modify any program or training if insufficient registrations or any extenuating circumstances should occur.
    Refunds will only be given if:
    1) Program or training is cancelled by GSHNC due to lack of registration or other extenuating circumstances.
    2) Request for cancellation is received in writing at least 3 weeks prior to the event; refund will reflect a 25% processing fee unless otherwise noted in the description.
     
  • To Use Buzz Bucks (formerly known as Cookie Dough and Nut Bucks) or Gift Cards
    Buzz Bucks and GSHNC Council Gift Cards can now be used online to pay for program, property, and camp registrations! Simply select the 'gift card' option at checkout and fill in the gift card number to apply it to your order.
     
  • Financial Assistance?
    Financial assistance is potentially available for all GSHNC programs and trainings. Financial assistance requests should be submitted at least one month in advance of the program date. Click here if you are in need of girl financial assistance for a program.   • Individual Participation 
    GSHNC programs are open to participation by both individual girls and troops. Girls can attend an event without the rest of their troop as long as an adult accompanies them, unless otherwise noted in the event description.  
     
  • Waitlists and Attendance Caps
    *Waitlists are available for some programs. If you have a waitlist spot, it will show up as Attendee's Name (waitlisted) on the checkout screen, and you will not have to pay for their spot in the program. Please complete your registration and press the 'checkout' button to be placed on the waitlist. If a space opens up, you will automatically be emailed a notification and a link to pay your program fee. 
    *If any category of participants (eg. 'Girl' or 'Adult') will not allow you to increase the number of participants, that means that category is FULL for this event. Please contact the Council office at 704-731-6500 or customercare@hngirlscouts.org to inquire about the possibility of being added to the event.

On any given night, there are over 2,000 people experiencing homelessness in Mecklenburg County. Our second annual Cardboard Campout will help girls understand the causes of homelessness and the experiences someone facing homelessness may face. Activities will include hearing from individuals who have experienced homelessness, group discussions, and participating in a service project to help our neighbors. Girls who participate in this program will be challenged to Take Action in their own community to end homelessness.

Please note that participants will need to bring their own cardboard. Duct tape and box cutters will be provided.

One adult is required per registration for this event. Troops that are planning to attend as a group should coordinate with their leader to register in a single order to prevent issues. If you have already registered your Troop and you need to add additional girls, click the link to log in and manage your existing orders under the banner at the top of this page to edit your existing order. If your Troop is not attending, you may still sign up as a family group.

Cancellation Policy

Requests for refunds must be received in writing no later than 2 weeks prior to the event. Refunds are subject to a 25% processing charge. If a program is canceled by GSHNC, a complete refund will be given. If you are unable to attend the date of the event you registered for, you can transfer to a future date of the same event. Requests for transfers must be received in writing no later than one week before the date of the event. Registrations can be transferred once, and thereafter cannot be transferred or canceled for a refund.

Cancellation decisions will be made two weeks prior to each event - events that have not met their minimum number of registrations by two weeks prior to the event WILL BE CANCELED. When in doubt, please register before this two-week deadline. When you click the 'Register Now' button, you will be able to see the Final registration deadline for the event, but events will be canceled before that Final deadline if they do not reach their minimum number of registrations two weeks prior.
